Testing Center of Excellence: A Mission (Not So) Impossible for Financial Institutions

In the post of March 2018 we began with a movie reference and this update will be no different. Rather than featuring a picture from today as we did back then this time we go back to one of the  most popular movies of all time – Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise.

Playing off the theme of Mission Impossible, Paragon included a reference to Hollywood as it began its post of August 7, 2018:

The next episode is said to focus on the challenges and political intrigue associated with the inner workings of large financial institution that is struggling to stay competitive and relevant in a rapidly changing and customer-centric world.”

This is a reference to the many financial institutions that continue to maintain a conglomeration of disparate systems that make the rapid development of new products and services unnecessarily complex and expensive. Some of these systems date back to the 1970’s, but still process significant volumes of mission critical payment transactions. In more than a few cases, testing of these legacy systems is still done manually or by using tools and processes developed by resources who have long since retired.
