A view into the world of NonStop – one HPE NonStop sales team member’s insights …

Conversations continue around availability. Those of us in the NonStop community that know that our cell phones, our credit cards, medicines, retailers that run NonStop means that we don’t have to worry about availability. You don’t have to think about (infrastructure and applications) with the COVID-19 lockdown.

All of which is a great way to introduce the topic of integrity, the topic of my latest 7 minute video.

Given our experiences today, doing what you say you are going to do, when you say you are going to do it, well that’s the definition of integrity for many of us. Unfortunately, we don’t know something lacks integrity till it fails. You don’t know a person lacks integrity until they willfully don’t do something they say they will do.

We don’t know our IT systems that they lack integrity until they are put into situations where they are trying to handle too big a load or (are expected to) do things that they were never designed to do.

When it comes to availability we measure it as being five nines (of availability) – three seconds of downtime a year. When it comes to maintenance or planned downtime, NonStop does that on the fly – all those things you need to do to maintain a system (can be) done online. Without an outage: NonStop delivers AL4 uptime. And it does this while still providing a level of scalability that delivers 98% of each added processor resource (up to 4080 processors) – all in a single system image.

So imagine what you could do with NonStop. At HPE we do that all day, every day for some of the largest logos in the business oftentimes when they only started with just a few cores to where today, they have thousands.
