On Oct. 18th and 19th, the Crowne Plaza Heidelberg City Centre hotel will host the 87th national meeting of GTUG, the German NonStop User Group. A very long history indeed …

NonStop systems have been associated with financial institutions and telcos for almost as long as they have been sold to enterprises worldwide. Europe, on the other hand, has seen a balance between these traditional markets with manufacturing and distribution markets. This balance makes any gathering of the NonStop community highly interesting and oftentimes, the opportunities to visit globally recognized factories is something many attendees look forward to as much as any content being presented.
The event theme for this upcoming GTUG meeting is “HPE NonStop – New Topics, New Solutions” and once again NonStop users, NonStop partners and participants from HPE Germany will be sharing their experiences and ideas as well as discussing current topics around NonStop. In addition, NonStop partners will present their products and services at the exhibition in the conference area.

Please note that while most presentations will be in German, all participants do speak English and so there should be no problem to get relevant information.

Several working groups focusing on NonStop SQL, system management, IT security, as well as NonStop in the industry and retail sector will already gather in the morning of Oct. 18th. After the official conference opening, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (a leading manufacturer of printing machines and also along-time user of NonStop systems) will present their production control applications.

In subsequent sessions, representatives from HPE will focus on current topics as seen from the vendor side. This will be followed by joint discussions on various IT and NonStop topics. In the evening, a nice walk through the charming city of Heidelberg and a typical dinner at a famous brewery will provide ample opportunities for networking.

On the second day, several GTUG members will present on current themes such as Java 9 on NonStop, MQ messaging on NonStop and about migrating from Itanium-based to x86-based NonStop systems. There will also be a presentation on “Compliance versus IT security.” The special highlight of the afternoon will be the visit to the huge factory of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, and to actually see NonStop in action within a complex production control environment.

The conference language is mainly German and GTUG is expecting a good cross-section of attendees coming mostly from Austria, Switzerland and of course, Germany.
