We all feel an overwhelming sense that perhaps we have turned a corner as far as living with the abnormal that has gripped the planet for the past two years. Could normalcy return in 2022? For the NonStop community there are early signs that this indeed may be taking place as from around the planet, NonStop Chapters and RUGs begin to promote in-person events. While there are restrictions in place even as there are concerns about the safety of those participating, these first steps towards normalcy are greatly appreciated. To sum up one NonStop vendor said, “We miss you all and can’t wait to network once again!”

As the major events may be the ones that gain the most attention then it is for good cause. HPE Discover 2022 will return to Las Vegas for a June 28-30, 2022 for it’s premier industry event. Even if your interest in all things HPE is casual at best, it’s well worth showing up just to see the keynote presentations. And you never can tell which HPE executive you might happen to bump into on the exhibition floor. For more information about this event, follow this link and make sure you register early:

Closer to home, the NonStop Technical Boot Camp 2022 (NonStopTBC22), the NonStop focused event, returns to Burlingame, California! Save the date; November 8 – 10, 2022. If you don’t remember how well attended this event has become just look at the photo above that was taken last time we all meet in Burlingame. Remember too that this is the best opportunity we all have this year to attend technical education and training sessions even as there is time devoted to presentations on hardware and software roadmaps. A can’t miss event and with registration opening in a few days’ time in March, 2022, make sure you check the Connect Community web site for more details:

Talking of March, if you have as yet not heard the news one of the best attended US RUG events will kick off shortly and it will be an in person event as well. March 4 – 5, 2022 will see Tampa, Florida once again hosting SunTUG Sunshine Summit. If as yet you haven’t planned on attending you still have a few days to reconsider. Just visit SunTUG site to register:

News broke this past week about upcoming in-person events being put on by BITUG. The planning committee just sent out email updates to the vendor community:

Our plans this year will be to have a face-to-face BIG SIG (1-day event) held sometime in June (date to be confirmed) probably at Trinity House in London as per previous years. This will be a fully Vendor-supported event so we will have approx. 12 x Vendor booths available for sponsorship and we hope that we can get as many of our vendor partners to participate again. We’ve all missed the face to face networking and catch up with the NonStop Community as I am sure you have.

Then later in December we will hold a face to face ½ day Little SIG – also probably located in London. The Little SIG is primarily to allow our UK-based Membership to perhaps catch up on the latest goings on that they have missed by not attending TBC in November. Of course, while we do not have specific vendor booths at the Little SIG (usually due to no space) you and your team are more than welcome to attend.

We then plan to hold a face to face Full 3-day European Event mid-year in 2023. We are in the planning stages now and we will provide updates as and when we have dates and location sorted. We anticipate this event to at least equal to that we hosted in Edinburgh in 2019 – though we know we have a lot to live up to!

Should you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to reach out to –

And just a week or so before this update went out GTUG emailed the community about their plans:

We are very pleased to invite you to join the virtual eGTUG – European NonStop HotSpot 2022 taking place on April 26/27, 2022

Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, we think it is still too early to plan this conference as an onsite event. Therefore, unfortunately, it will be a Zoom event again – however, meanwhile we all have some experience in this …

Just in from GUG comes the request that should you have any wishes on topics you are interested in or if you want to present, please let us know!

News too is on the Connect web site that is promoting the MATUG 2022 meeting. This is the highlight event for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter and will take place on May 19, 2022 at the HPE Office in Reston Virginia.

“The MATUG meeting is open at no cost to all HPE NonStop customers, partners, users, consultants, or other interested parties. A small continental breakfast with coffee will be provided, along with a boxed lunch, and a mid-afternoon water/coffee/tea break,” said MATUG’s Secretary / Treasurer, Susan Loeliger in her outreach email to NonStop users and vendors. In the spirit of user group meetings through the years, “These will be provided by our vendor sponsors at no cost to attendees.”

Without making any firm commitments as yet, there is also consideration being given for N2TUG to return as an in-person event, but we will have to wait to the next issue to read more about this event as we will likewise have to wait for news from a number of other Chapters and RUGs. Even as we now have the snow falling once again outside the offices of NonStop Insider, heading to Texas certainly has its upsides, but then again, seeing the return to some sense of normalcy for much of the community around the planet is encouraging to read.

As for the NonStop Insider team we are already committed to attending the majors – HPE Discover and NonStopTBC22 – and we look forward to catching up with many of you. And one last opportunity to let you know, all these organizations look for volunteers so if this strikes you as something you would like to do, let the Connect organization know. And with that, for all of 2022 stay healthy and safe travels!
