HPE NonStop Community – Adjusting to the new normalcy of virtualized events
NonStop Insider
DanThis upcoming virtual NonStop Technical Boot Camp will not only set a registration record but also set the tone for Regional User Group (RUG) meetings in the coming year. Have you heard the news? Seen the latest data? Looks like registrations have now passed 1,700. Unbelievable and yet, confirmation of the interest in all things NonStop among enterprises worldwide remains strong. Will we need to travel anymore? Do we want to travel anymore?
The answer could be very simple with a resounding response of No! And this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If as yet you have not read the latest post to the NonStop community blog, Real Time View, then it may be the right time to check it out –

Perhaps the biggest breakthrough that is coming with virtual TBC is that it will be made available to different regions in real time, with an on demand library created for viewing at hours that may better suit international audiences, with some local languages translations provided as well. With seven tracks for Europe, Asia-Pacific, Japan and India included, this will be an event of unprecedented exposure for all things NonStop. I would not come as a surprise to any member of the NonStop community if success of this virtual TBC sets the stage for future community events – global and regional!
As we head into a week of tracks and sessions, it’s important too that we provide updates for what lies ahead for other events for at least one region. In Europe, calendars are already being established with dates being set, venues being promoted and yes, how different countries are adapting in the face of the ongoing global pandemic.
For the UK and BITUG, there will be the following:
BITUG Little SIG (our one-day annual event) will now be held as a virtual event (just like most other RUGs this year) – December 4th, 2020. Register at www.bitug.com/events
It’s a chance to hear what’s happening in NonStop in EMEA (State of the Nation) by Neil Davis as well as latest news from NED fresh from TBC
BITUG BIG SIG (our 2-day event) will (hopefully) be a face-to-face affair with Vendor Tables and multiple tracks – Current expectation June 2020 (Date TBA)
“The BITUG membership exceeds 400 members throughout UK and Europe and is one of the most active NonStop User Groups worldwide. Always looking for innovative ideas from the NonStop Community so please feel free to get in touch with us anytime by the ‘contact us’ link on our website,” wrote Collin Yates, BITUG Treasurer and Vendor Liaison.
For Germany and GTUG, there will be the following:
GTUG will hold their usual RUG event in 2021 for German-locals – Date TBA
For all of Europe and its major annual events, there is already planning under way:
No BIG European Event in 2021 due to COVID-19 uncertainty, but GTUG will host in Germany in 2022 and BITUG in London in 2023
When it comes to living and working in now what is being recognised as the new normal, attending NonStop events conducted virtually is the best way to remain connected to the NonStop community. With the virtual TBC only days away, there is still time to register. The agenda has been set: Look for it; stay informed; set aside time and, most important of all? Don’t forget to join the 1,700 of your peers who have already registered, as there is still time to register and it is free!
