HPE RUG events worldwide, 2018 – December Update
NonStop Insider
DanThe events planned for December went off as planned and now it’s time to begin planning for 2019. While the calendar is looking a little thin for now (not entirely unexpected as it has always been a little slow in January), there is still much to look forward to as 2019 will prove to be another good year for the NonStop community. For those of us who were lucky enough to find themselves on Sydney Harbor for the annual fireworks display, New Year’s Eve, it was all rather symbolic as there are bound to be plenty of fireworks this year for NonStop.
As the year wound down, there was a number of RUG events held, some of which were held in part to celebrate the holidays. OzTUG met in both Sydney and Melbourne and for Sydney, there were close on thirty attendees at a venue that proved excellent for the occasion – by the waters of Darling Harbor – where the food just kept on coming!
In London, the BITUG Little SIG went very well, according to those present, with about seventy people in attendance which is pretty normal for BITUB for that time of year. Presentations by London Police Counter Terrorism as well as on Crypto Currencies together with updates from HPE NonStop sales management all contributed to an informative time. I am sure there was enough time left over for further networking around adult beverages, if previous form held true.
It should be hard to miss the excitement surrounding yet more deployments of NonStop X systems along with celebrations that follow the early baby-steps taken by some NonStop users towards deploying virtualized NonStop (vNS). This year, there will be a lot riding on the continued transformation of NonStop as it heads down the parallel paths of traditional and virtual configurations – are you ready for all of this?
The first NonStop User event scheduled will be the Sunshine Summit in Tampa, Florida, and for all those in the northern regions still deep in snow the chance to catch some sunny days simply should not be ignored. The team at SunTUG has never disappointed when it comes to putting on a full program of presentations and this will be one event I am sure will not only attract a crowd but set the tone for the rest of the year’s RUG events. Hope to see you all in Tampa!
Prior to SunTUG is a special more product focused event planned for New York City – the HPE Blockchain Forum. Idleji and OmniPayments will be presenting their own take on what can be achieved using Blockchain and it should be very interesting to see how they are progressing in the marketplace. This is an exciting development for NonStop as it is the first platform off the rank when it comes to HPE supporting Blockchain and having an option to deploy a mission critical distributed ledger technology that fully capitalizes on NonStop, including NonStop SQL, sends a strong message to the industry about just how important NonStop is to HPE’s strategy of transformation.
A little later in the year we will have the eBITUG pan-European event in Edinburgh, UK, and following last year’s terrific turn out in Leipzig, Germany, for the GTUG-hosted event expectations too are running high for a good show in a city many of us have come to know fairly well following many NonStop events having been held there over the years, including ITUG European Summits and ACI ACE events.
Of course there will be those of us who will be penciling in a trip to Las Vegas in June for HPE Discover, 2019, where all the HPE’s product roadmaps will be presented and this is one annual trip into the superheated dessert many members of the NonStop community commit to making each and every year – hope to see you all there as well! The challenge for all members of the NonStop community is to be seen at this event, waving the NonStop banners for all of HPE to see – we do need to become more visible with greater numbers than perhaps other product groups. It really is time for us as a community to send a very strong message to HPE executives that we are here, we are growing, and we deserve more of the HPE marketing spotlight! So, plan on attending this year’s HPDE Discover and let’s make a lot of noise!
