InfraSoft moves further up the software stack with uLinga
With its roots firmly in connectivity and networking, uLinga is allowing online applications on NonStop to talk directly to online applications on IBM mainframes
IntraSoft
For the past couple of years it’s been either one or two Infrasoft directors that have made the long trip up from Sydney, Australia for the NonStop Technical Boot Camp. But this year, all five Infrasoft directors will be present – Peter, Neil, Dave, Margo and Richard. For Infrasoft, participation has always been about networking and the chance this gives us to talk to real NonStop users. The news coming out from HPE certainly has piqued our interest of late and on the surface, it seems HPE has really moved NonStop forward but there simply isn’t any substitute for observing customers firsthand and Boot Camp is now the biggest and best supported forum for doing exactly that!
Our primary product, uLinga has come a long way as we continue to push the product further. No longer being viewed as just a SNAX or ICE replacement but with new more modern protocols being supported, it has presented Infrasoft with an opportunity to move further up the stack. Where once working with low level protocols at the device level, with uLinga for CICS we are now working at the application level supporting online application directly interacting with IBM mainframe CICS applications. With real users now having deployed uLinga for CICS in every corner of the globe, this is where we see the growth of uLinga continuing in the near term.
However, uLinga is also seeing interest in deployment on Linux with a number of installations having been made. It is encouraging to see uLinga gaining acceptance on this platform. From the very first day we architected uLinga we ensured it was platform agnostic. With these deployments we are getting our first up close look at the real requirements from running on open platforms. Given the strategy of HPE to transform enterprises to a hybrid infrastructure to bring together the world of traditional IT with the emerging world of clouds, having choice as to where to run uLinga should help to keep the operational costs of NonStop more in line with what users expect from open platforms.
Attending Boot Camp will see us on the exhibition floor – with a table positioned between our sales partner comForte and other NonStop vendors we work closely with. You won’t miss us as there will be at least one of us at the table at all times. Participating in Boot Camp will be a networking opportunity but just as importantly, we will be able to enjoy conversations with the many HPE NonStop technical folks who have helped us considerably over the past few years. Just in case you missed our announcement, ask us about our Node.js product bomBora. It is now included in the HPE NonStop product roadmaps under the significant heading – Today’s Modern Stacks on NonStop
