The NonStop TBC 2023 will be held at the Hilton Denver City Center hotel in Denver, Colorado on October 12-14. Please join us at one of our presentations listed below, or visit us at our booth. We look forward to talking with you and discussing how the HPE Shadowbase product suite can provide solutions to your most pressing business issues for digital resilience, business continuity, data integration and synchronization, and application integration.

  1. Title: HPE Shadowbase: Maximize NonStop Digital Resilience with Data Replication, Integration, and Validation
Speaker: Paden R. Holenstein, Shadowbase Business Development Specialist and Marketing Coordinator, Gravic
Abstract: Data is a key aspect of digital resilience, and ensuring its continuous availability has never been more important. This is especially true as new government regulations, such as the European Union’s Digital Operations Resilience Act (DORA), impose stringent technical requirements on businesses to protect, detect, and recover from information technology incidents. Learn about exciting and innovative HPE Shadowbase solutions that are helping NonStop customers maximize digital resilience and address emerging business needs, like Cloud Integration, Streaming Data Analytics, Virtualization, and of course the latest in continuous data availability architectures.
  2. Title: Ransomware Protection and Data Recovery
Speakers: Paul J. Holenstein, EVP, and Kenneth Scudder, VP Global Business Development, Gravic
Abstract: With the threats from malware and ransomware rapidly growing, reliability and data integrity are now at the forefront of business concerns and a primary challenge for businesses to solve. In this talk, we review ransomware detection and recovery architectures, including immutable backups and air-gapped systems. We will review the Ransomware demo architecture that we implemented with HPE (available in the HPE booth) to assist businesses thwart this growing set of unique challenges.
  3. Title: Major UK Bank Migrates its BASE24™ Application to Active/Active for Continuous Availability
Speakers: Yogesh Teli, AVP, BASE24 Development at Barclays Bank, and Drew Bauernschmidt, Product Analyst, Gravic
Abstract: A large bank in the UK provides lending, wealth management, card processing, and many other services for over 48 million customers worldwide. The bank’s original Disaster Recovery solution reached Mature product status, and did not support automated failover and recovery, nor continuous availability via a more advanced active/active business continuity architecture.

The bank decided to explore alternative options, and chose HPE Shadowbase as their replacement solution. They also rearchitected the new solution so that its BASE24™ classic ATM application could leverage the new solution’s dual-site active/active capability. With careful planning, best practices, and extensive testing, the bank migrated to the new solution with only a few minor issues during the process. Learn about the bank’s journey to Continuous Availability, what went well, what could have gone better, and how the bank successfully completed the project with no application downtime.

  4. Title: HPE Business Continuity Product Suite Update
Speaker: Mark Pollans, HPE, WW Sr. Product Manager and Paul J. Holenstein, EVP, Gravic
Abstract: Learn how to put business continuity into practice to eliminate planned and unplanned application outages, and ensure that your replicated data is always synchronized and consistent. Attend this talk to understand how HPE Business Continuity products complement HPE NonStop systems to continuously maintain the availability of your data and applications. Beyond data replication, this talk will cover the latest data integration and data streaming techniques for integrating your data across the enterprise in a hybrid IT world – including Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP Hana, SAP Sybase, PostgreSQL, MySQL, cloud environments, and more.
  5. HPE In-Booth Demo – Ransomware and Malware
Visit the HPE booth to see the evolving HPE reference architecture for ransomware and malware detection and recovery. This solution features key products available from the HPE product suite, including HPE Shadowbase, to build out a malware and ransomware defense architecture to allow your business to survive, successfully recover from an attack, and preserve the original infected environment for subsequent analysis and forensics.

Gravic Publishes Article on Stepping Stones for a Successful Migration

Gravic pioneered the “zero downtime migration” approach, and published the article, Stepping Stones for a Successful Migration in the July/August issue of The Connection. Each “Stepping Stone” (Step) of a Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) requires acceptance before moving onto the next step. We created this infographic to illustrate how to safely cross the “migration river” by eliminating the risks associated with migrations and following procedures that include best practices. It is best to keep the application online and available for service processing at all times, carefully plan and test the migration before implementation, and sequentially complete each step (with failback options) as the migration progresses.

The five key stepping stones are: Replication Discovery, Roadmap Outline, Customer Training, Production Planning, and Production Implementation (“Go-live” and post production support). These steps are based on research done by experts who perform these migrations every day, but keep in mind that each migration may have its own unique challenges. Following these best practices should produce a successful, risk-free Shadowbase ZDM.

Gravic Publishes Recap Article on MexTUG 2023

Gravic also published the article, MexTUG 2023: “Mucho Gusto” Mexico City! in the July/August issue of The Connection. Ken Scudder, VP of Global Business Development, wrote of his impressions of the event. Here is a small snippet; click here to read the full article.

“The event was superlative for a number of reasons. Firstly, the Connect and MexTUG teams did a great job planning, organizing, and running the event. Furthermore, the venue was stunning; the conference was held in the Versailles ballroom on the 40th floor of the Sofitel hotel in Mexico City’s La Reforma district, the historic heart of the city. Of course, the participants are the most important part of any event, and there was a large turnout of Mexican NonStop customers, the HPE Mexico team, and NonStop partners. Kudos to my Gravic colleague, Alfredo Gonzalez (who is based near Mexico City), for making our last session of the day so interesting.”
