What do we mean by actionable insight? Why is the prospect of driving business forward based on what is taking place right now becoming so important for today’s enterprise? Simply stated, actionable insights allow these enterprises to become more responsive to change and to benefit from derived knowledge that tracks the emergence of trends as they evolve. Every enterprise wants “in” on where spending is taking place even as “missing out” can be damaging to the business and the brand. Who wants plastic shoes when everyone is into cloth?

Point is where transactions take place and where data is freshest it more often than not takes place on a NonStop systems. The applications running on NonStop are typically customer-centric in that they are an enterprises’ customer contact point and the interaction between the enterprises and their customers oftentimes sees data being created. This data is the first indication that change is happening and if off-limits to today’s analytics processes, can lead to enterprises being blindsided. No enterprise wants to ever miss the “next big thing” or be faced with shareholders wanting to know why the value of their investments (in the enterprise) has been heavily discounted.

For the NonStop community, its support of NonStop is well placed. Interaction with customers is a round-the-clock occurrence leaving the enterprise without traditional maintenance windows. Fault tolerance is still the preference of those businesses that view their interaction with customers as being mission critical. As such, outages for any reason can become highly visible very quickly and no CIO wants to face the intense scrutiny by the press when failures occur. However, being the system where data is the freshest requires additional steps to be taken before such fresh data can be turned into actionable insight and for Striim, this is at the very heart of what it provides: A real-time streaming data integration platform!

The scope of Striim’s product offering supports the need to move fresh data from NonStop to almost every platform imaginable. Already there are Striim users who simply rely on Striim to move data from one NonStop system to another. Whether it’s in support of a backup site or to applications running on NonStop elsewhere in the enterprise, Striim’s real-time streaming data integration platform caters for any combination of NonStop to NonStop data replication an enterprise may require. “This is at the very heart of what we do here at Striim,” said Cofounder, Sami Akbay. “Our management team has been involved in moving data for several decades now and our experience with data on NonStop is unmatched.”

Data on NonStop is becoming more important to environments apart from NonStop. With the inroads cloud computing, as marketed by popular cloud service providers, is making among enterprises, there is also now the need to  be able to move data from NonStop onto cloud data platforms including that of Snowflake. What is the benefit from accessing a cloud data platform and what does support for products like Snowflake mean for Striim? According to Snowflake:

“Snowflake is an analytic data warehouse provided as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Snowflake provides a data warehouse that is faster, easier to use, and far more flexible than traditional data warehouse offerings.

“Snowflake’s data warehouse is not built on an existing database or “big data” software platform such as Hadoop. The Snowflake data warehouse uses a new SQL database engine with a unique architecture designed for the cloud.”

Where the appeal for Snowflake lies among NonStop users is that with the support of Snowflake by Striim, there are the same elements of simplicity together with the elegance of implementation that leads to better performance even as the continuous availability attributes we associate with NonStop are all present in Striim. In announcing Striim on Snowflake Partner Connect and of how Striim can be accessed as a cloud service, Harsha Kapre, Director of Product Management at Snowflake, said:

Simplicity is the highlight of Striim’s cloud service on Partner Connect: We focused on delivering an experience tailored towards Snowflake customers; making it easy to bridge the gap between operational databases and Snowflake via self-service schema migration, initial data sync, and change data capture.

“Striim simplifies and accelerates the movement of real-time enterprise data to Snowflake with an easy and scalable pay-as-you-go model.”

NonStop to NonStop and NonStop integration with cloud services is of importance for NonStop users. It is a case of deploying a product that meets the homogeneous and heterogeneous data streaming needs most enterprises are demanding. One product! Many delivery options! However, what is worth remembering when it comes to Striim is that when it comes to fresh data, as NonStop so readily creates, without the means to deliver to applications performing analysis of data in real time, those all-important critical market changes might very well be missed altogether. With Striim, real data is made available on time, every time, all the time!

Should you have additional questions on how best to deploy Striim in support of your NonStop to NonStop streaming needs or for ensuring data on NonStop makes it to your favorite cloud analytic platform, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, the Striim team. We welcome all of your enquiries as we look forward to explaining the full benefits that came with deploying Striim in your enterprise.
