TANDsoft News: Blazing Fast Solutions Now on HPE GreenLake

What’s the difference between blazing fast and blistering fast?

Several years ago, we first announced the “blazing-fast” technology featured in our solutions, specifically FS Compare and Repair and FS Backup and Restore. In fact, we made our first big announcement at the HPE NonStop Virtual User Group event (VIRTU-NUG) that took place in 2020.

FS Compare and Repair offers fast, advanced capabilities for ensuring your nodes are kept in sync at all times. The solution employs a market-leading, block-level hashing technology that delivers breakthrough speed and scalability. FS Compare and Repair can validate and repair HPE NonStop Enscribe files, OSS files, and SQL/MP and SQL/MX tables. Quite simply, if your organization needs to compare high volumes of files with lots of data—and do it quickly—FS Compare and Repair is the solution for you.

Recently, you may have read of a solution that offers “blistering fast” comparison functionality. While the terms sound similar, the underlying realities of each solution are not.

What’s the difference between a solution that is blazing fast and one that is blistering fast?  Only our FS Compare and Repair solution is:

Blazing fast – FS Compare and Repair in Production.

NonStop customer 1:

“FS Compare is live and in production and is being utilized successfully and we are happy with its performance. We use it for comparing PROD vs DR to identify mismatches. No Repair yet, but we would like to be able to use this feature.

We have automated the FS Compare execution for every weekend.

On Sunday’s, FS Compare deals with roughly 950 files, totaling to 1.3 TB, with average processing duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

On Saturday’s, FS Compare deals with roughly 1700 files, totaling to 1.8 TB, with average processing duration of 2 hours.

Once every 2 to 3 months, we overload FS Compare with roughly 5 TB worth of data, across 7500 files, with average processing time of 6 to 7 hours. ” Quote from the customer.

The files are TMF Audited and consist of Enscribe, SQL/MP and SXQL/MX tables. An online replicator is used to update the DR files.

NonStop customer 2:

“We use FS Compare and Repair to Synchronize our DR files.  We went from 24-hour synchronization to 2 hours for Enscribe and SQL/MP tables.

For the files that are synchronized every 2 hours, some take 1 hour, but most are 30 minutes or less.  Some of the jobs have lots of files and others are large SQL tables. “ Quote from the customer.

The files are Un-Audited and consist of Enscribe and SQL/MP tables.  There is no online replicator in use.
