When the first prototype of the venerable Porsche 911 was unveiled at the October, 1963, Earls Court Motor Show, the prototype was tagged as a 901. According to a Porsche designer, it was referred to as an Ausgangsbasis – better translated as “a good place to start.” For a long time and with the coming of a new year, the sentiment within TCM is similar. With 2023 well and truly behind us, the results having proved extremely positive for the company, it is clearly giving TCM a similar feeling; it’s a good place to start!
Having a distinct European outlook when it comes to the business landscape and the commitments to the enterprise being made by the HPE NonStop sales team, it is hard to ignore just how much faith HPE has in attacking new markets. With the focus on Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) together with Metal-as-a-Service (MaaS) the NonStop sales team firmly believe it has something fresh to take to the marketplace. With separate services-oriented solutions for finance and manufacturing, solutions supporting the services push are bringing with them years of experience in these markets and that has seen a marked turn around in expectations for further success with NonStop.
It has long been the message championed by HPE CEO, Antonio Neri, that continues to fuel this tight focus on finance and manufacturing. From the first time we heard Neri tell us that the future of HPE was going to be very much tied to delivering everything as-a-Service. It turns out that this wasn’t just a catch sound bite but rather, a prediction that very quickly became a reality. Today, with vendors like Lusis (for payments) and abat+ (for manufacturing), TCM sees NonStop solutions vendors capitalizing on this all-consuming focus of HPE that is trending in a positive manner.
“As we enter 2024 and begin a journey, we feel very positive about the acceptance of PaaS and MaaS by the enterprises where we have a presence, it has made us excited by the prospects for NonStop and for the overall business opportunities for TCM,” said Andy Vasey, Services Business Consultant, TCM Solutions. “In taking a proactive stance in helping the NonStop sales efforts in support of PaaS and MaaS, we are already seeing a strong potential for further growth of TCM as well. There’s really no substitute for working with something that is gaining traction in the marketplace and while its early days, we are seeing enough activities to confirm for us that HPE is heading in the right direction.”
Irrespective of the solution driving the sale of NonStop, whether finance or manufacturing or even just the metal, for TCM it just makes so much sense that the platform is NonStop. Ultimately, for the global NonStop community the storyline we hope to see developing in 2024 is all about adding more NonStop systems into the marketplace. Arguably the best mission-critical platform available today, here at TCM we are tooling up to support new NonStop customers just as we continue to support the existing NonStop user community. It is this sense of anticipation, the mere fact that the activities we have seen up until now, are proving to be truly a good place to start.
There are two topics that have become central to our own plans – addressing cyber security and entering new regions. While modernization remains a major topic of interest among our users particularly when it involves virtualization and the potential deployment on virtual machines, it has been the interest in addressing potential disruption to services originating from cyber-attacks has brought out numerous solutions from the NonStop vendor community. In so doing and with the recognition that many of these offerings involve partnerships and alliances among NonStop vendors, TCM is aware that the NonStop user community is going to benefit from turning to experienced services providers like TCM.
When it comes to entering new regions, this is always of interest to TCM. We can see from the coverage provided by others that markets like the Middle East and even markets as far away as Australia and New Zealand afford TCM further opportunities to grow as a business. There is also the growing interest in LATAM where Mexico and Chile have a substantial NonStop presence as was evident in recent NonStop regional user group events. We have a long history of success with the NonStop sales teams in many regions and our commitment to support their initiatives is well-known to their team members. Looking at what we are likely to encounter in 2024 has a distinct global feel about it and such an outcome has become an instrumental part of our plans for 2004.
“Following the conversations that began at recent NonStop user events and conferences, TCM is encouraged to see the attention being paid to cyber security. The NonStop user community is fully aware that the inherent architecture of NonStop makes penetration by bad actors highly unlikely and yet, here at TCM, we are not prepared to rule out any such attacks,” said Andy Vasey. “Just because an event hasn’t occurred doesn’t rule out it happening in the future and with as much knowledge of NonStop as exists today in the real world, TCM is not prepared to rule out anything at this time. Our premise is that being prepared is the first step and having a services provider like us with the experiences we already have gained, is beneficial to all members of the NonStop community. A depth of experience too is a good place to start whenever NonStop customers evaluate working with a services company.”
The year 2024 may just be in its infancy but with the April 2024 European GTUG (eGTUG) conference only weeks away, expect to hear a lot more from the TCM team as we step up to help our NonStop customers navigate the challenges of 2024. Whether embracing a new solution via the as-a-Services path or simply pursuing a tech refresh involving major system upgrades, you will be hearing a lot more from TCM team members. Look too for an increased presence among NonStop user group events in the Americas as plans are in place to be at SunTUG and much more with the annual NonStop TBC Conference already penciled in on our calendar.
“Yes, we are looking forward to seeing as many of our NonStop customers as we can here in Europe as well as in the Americas,” said Daniel Craig, TCM Solutions Managing Director. “We value all interactions with the NonStop community highly as it is through the many conversations that we have that our plans more readily become real and for that, we believe there is no better place to absorb change than engaging directly with the NonStop customer.”
And realistically, we know that there are bound to be many more conversations to follow about the individual journeys of NonStop users the deeper into calendar year 2024 we get. If your own plans include addressing changes of platform, embracing the latest solutions as-a-Service or you are taking steps to shore up your security protection, TCM is only too happy to join you on your journey wherever your path might take you.
