DanBITUG, the British Isles Tandem Users Group, is hosting the NonStop European Technical Bootcamp May 13th through the 15th, so it’s now right around the corner. This year, the group has chosen Edinburgh rather than London for the venue. According to what I’ve read, the Sheraton Grand Hotel is only a 15 minute walk from the historic Edinburgh Castle. There’s been a royal castle on that rock since at least the 12th century, although most of the existing structure dates from the 16th century or later. Any way you look at it, it’s been there a long time!
By the way, the Stone of Scone is now located at Edinburgh Castle. While this may or may not mean much to most Americans, it is a very important artifact in Great Britain and Scotland. Just ask a local while you’re there…..or watch the film “Stone of Destiny”. Either way, it’s a fascinating story 800 years in the making!
Now back to the Bootcamp – one subject that’s bound to be discussed is NonStop storage. And today, there’s no avoiding the discussion of Cloud Based Storage options. It’s obvious to most IT professionals that this is the future, in fact, government agencies, financial institutions, health care providers and others are all benefited from Cloud Based storage.
In the March NonStop Insider, I referenced an article from the Texas Tribune, “Texas lawmakers look to the “cloud” for storing sensitive government data”. Check it out here:

And if Texas is looking to Public Cloud Based Storage Options, it’s a safe bet that they’re hardly alone.
But you’re a long time NonStop user, running a J-or L-series server. What options do you have for Cloud connectivity? Well, Tributary Systems offers our flagship Storage Director, which will provide a simple, cost effective, secure and high performance interface to Public Clouds. Storage Director’s extreme backup and restore (Read and Write) performance allows backup data to be written to object storage solutions on public clouds like AWS, Google, Azure and IBM with high speeds. Additionally, the built-in caching capability allows for reducing or eliminating ingress and egress fees.
Take a moment to review this presentation we’ve created on Storage Director, learn how NonStop users can take advantage of the cloud in a simple, straightforward manner, with no disruption to existing infrastructure.
So while you’re in Scotland, grab a slice of haggis, read the article, and as always, if you’d like additional information on Storage Director, visit www.tributary.com, or contact our Sales Director, Matt Allen, at 817-786-3066 (office) or 713-492-7434 (cell).
