Editorial October 2025
This issue of the NonStop Insider is centered on what is still fresh in our minds, HPE Nonstop Technology and Business Conference 2025 (TBC 25) as delivered by the Connect organization.
Let me start with Richard Buckle’s article “Real Time View”: “This issue of NonStop Insider is a celebration. It is the first issue of the tenth year of this publication.” (NonStop Insider)
Further down the article Richard comments on the issue that trouble many of the Nonstop vendors and one that needs to be addressed! “Nonstop Compute cannot afford to stand still. Nor can the Nonstop community become yet another technology association. A club for those who keep the secrets of Nonstop. All too quickly, cliques can form and that is of little value to the Nonstop community looking to attract new Nonstop customers. Likewise, the gulf between Nonstop partners as in being on the Nonstop price book, looking out, and separate from the Nonstop vendors looking in, needs to be addressed. I can honestly say that this has gotten the attention of senior Nonstop management but something material has to appear soon or we will loose participating Nonstop vendors and, with or without clubs, this isn’t what the Nonstop community wants to see take place.”
The interesting opinion column, “Have you been victimized and tricked with an authorized push payment?” by Justin Simonds talks about HPE’s heightened awareness about cybersecurity: “Here at HPE this is also Cybersecurity awareness month – which means we all have to take training to avoid phishing and other security issues at HPE.” Read the article – Justin describes the ways being used to make sure that the employees are taking this seriously!
On the subject of TBC25 Justin said: “I did want to highlight one aspect of Casey Taylor’s (HPE Nonstop VP & GM) keynote regarding Nonstop and AI. She mentioned the use of adjacent AI with Nonstop.”
Now, did this make you curious to read the article? I sure hope so.
The joint NTI and Infrasoft article “NTI and Infrasoft: Making the Partner Ecosystem work. Modern accessibility with uLinga Gateway” talks about the results of the partnership between NTI and Infrasoft: “Together with NTI, the first real-world deployment of uLinga Gateway – in this case, DRNet®/Gateway, powered by uLinga – is now in production. What appeared to be a common problem for Nonstop customers relying on one payment processing solution, resulted in a Southern Hemisphere financial institution using uLinga Gateway to provide TLS protection of TCP/IP connections to Visa, without any need to change the application. A clear win for the Nonstop customer looking for transparence while stepping up to today’s modern mandatory networking properties.” The benefits of the joint project is clear: “Perhaps the most important aspect of DRNet®/Gateway, powered by uLinga, is how it is going about future-proofing additional integration projects.”
LUSIS’ article “Mission Critical” will warm the cockles of the hearts of the Nonstop community! Read the article, but here are passages that will speak to all in Nonstop business: “Mission-critical systems are not software like any other. Most software may fail. Some even incorporate failure or inaccuracy as a standard mode of operation, such as the overbooking systems of transport companies.”
“The situation is quite different for mission-critical systems. They cannot be unavailable or even provide a degraded service. Any failure will be detrimental to the company that provides the service, to its customers and to the operator’s supplier. Any failure will cause damage in terms of image, business, market share or sometimes much more. For mission-critical systems you must always be thinking in worst case scenario and not best case scenario.”
Read the article – and at the end you will be pointed to continuation of it on LUSIS’ web site.
CSP’s article “Strengthening Operational Resilience By Monitoring Nonstop-Connected Devices” states: “CSP has been an innovator in NonStop security for over thirty years and understands the complex security challenges facing the NonStop platform. No organization is immune to threats. CSP understands enterprises require insight and visibility into the Hardware Security module, so we developed CSP Syslog Receiver to assist with monitoring of devices connected to Nonstop environment.”
I think it is a very interesting topic – read the article!
In comforte’s article “Modernizing Nonstop Environments Without Sacrificing Security” there is a phrase that suddenly brought many memories. It took me back many years and I feel as if my friend, David Kurn, could have made this particular observation. If you were in the then Tandem’s development organization you probably recall the Kurn’s Kernel. David was a strong proponent of implementing the Key Management on the Nonstop platform.
So here is the phrase: “Why we need key management: Key management is often overlooked. In fact, it’s a critical foundation of modern cybersecurity—keeping online customers safe, logins secure, and data out of the reach of thieves and extortionists.”
Read the article, particularly if all this seem cryptic to you. J
m TCM in the article “TCM Team – Prepared to fully embrace Nonstop TBC 2025!” you will read: “As with every event there will always be much that is covered post-event. Did it work for the customer? The partners and vendors? Was the enough content to meet every stakeholder’s needs? As with any event post-mortem TCM has attended (along with our own internal review), the one thing that comes to the fore is that there is always room for improvement.
Nevertheless, TCM cannot overlook the effort that was put into the event by Connect, the Nonstop community’s organization overseeing the global events activities of Nonstop. From TCM’s point of view, however, it wasn’t just a case of there being room for improvement but rather, a re-evaluation of the value proposition of all such events and whether the opportunities presenting themselves warranted the full-court press we have executed in former times.”
Dive into the TCM’s article – many interesting observations are there.
From TIC’s article “GenAI is Here: Are You Ready to Leverage It for NonStop?”
you will learn that: “At TIC Software, our two years of focused research into GenAI applications for NonStop environments has culminated in TIC Navigator, unveiled at Connect TBC 2025. This solution combines deep domain expertise with cutting-edge AI capabilities, specifically engineered for Nonstop’s unique architectural demands.”

TANDsoft and the TANDsoft’s solutions making a splash you will read in the TANDsoft’s article “TANDsoft Solutions Star at Recent HPE NonStop Event, Deliver Customer Breakthroughs” you will read about progress the company is making. You need to read it! Here is a teaser: “FS Compare and Repair is just one of the solutions TANDsoft provides. At the recent NonStop event, customers were particularly interested in the FS Bundle, which features FS Compare and Repair and FileSync. FileSync is our pioneering replication and synchronization solution. FileSync employs a block-level approach that offers speed and scalability. The solution automatically monitors, replicates, and synchronizes all files across all nodes.“
NuWave’s article “Reflections from The Woodlands: NuWave at Nonstop TBC 2025” states: “For NuWave, TBC 2025 was more than just a conference. It was a chance to showcase solutions, share insights on microservices and modernization, and strengthen connections across the Nonstop ecosystem. With a perfect mix of learning, networking, and fun, the event reaffirmed why this community continues to lead in mission-critical innovation.”
And then on a lighter note, which might make you smile article says: “One of our favorite TBC traditions – The Beer Bust! The perfect chance to relax, catch up with old friends, and meet new people. With cold drinks and lively conversations, the community always comes together.
The Nonstop Rodeo at TBC 2025 brought a true taste of Texas to the conference. With classic southern fare, live DJ sets, line dancing lessons, a Hat Bar to customize our own cowboy hats and of course – the mechanical bull for those brave enough to take a ride (we did)!”
Definitely you want to read the article!
NTI’s article “For NTI it is all about M&Ms – Migration and Modernization” tells a sweet story – it is about M&Ms after all! “While Nonstop TBC2025 was the forum where NTI introduced its new tag line, “We move the data that moves your business,” it was just as appropriate a venue to promote our M&Ms strategy. No, not a chocolate treat give-away but rather, a strategy very much tied to Migrations and Modernization.”
More on this: “Nonstop customers in EMEA and AP/J modernizing with DRNet®/Unified together with DRNet®/Kafka and DRNet®/Gateway (both powered by uLinga), join the many Nonstop customers in the Americas where after celebrating forty years in business, NTI continues to grow its M&Ms.”

The article “New to Nonstop (N2NS)” you will read “The recent Technical and Business Conference was a great success in The Woodlands, Texas. New to Nonstop (N2NS) was present with a booth, session, and networking event at Kirby’s Ice House.”
Read the article! It ends with “Be on the lookout for upcoming “Rotary Sessions” (informational webinars) – more details to follow.”
Gravic’s article starts with “Gravic recently published the article Follow The 3-2-1-1 Rule to Protect Your Mission-Critical Data from Ransomware in the July/August issue of The Connection. The piece addresses the growing need for robust, layered data protection strategies as ransomware and malware evolve into existential threats for enterprises.”
The second part of the Gravic’s article titled “Gravic Highlights Shadowbase Innovations and Community Connections at HPE NonStop TBC 2025” and it summarizes the content of the event day-by-day. You may enjoy this reminder of the conference flow.
Gravic writes: “TBC 2025 was a tremendous success, leaving us energized by the conversations and connections we made. If you missed a session or want to dive deeper into any of the topics we covered, please reach out, we’d love to continue the discussion. We look forward to seeing you next year at TBC26 in Orlando, or at one of the many regional NonStop events throughout the year!”
“Another highlight was New to NonStop: Join Us! hosted by Paden Holenstein (Gravic) and Vedant Shrivastava (Idelji), which provided mentorship and resources for newcomers to the NonStop community.”

The Richard Buckle’s opinion column is titled “My latest update following HPE Nonstop Technology & Business Conference 2025”. All TBC25 presenters may appreciate when Richard says: “I was among the many participants who gave a presentation. My session was part of a track where competition for attendees was fierce. Fortunately, I was sponsored by NTI who gave me license to work into my regular presentation new material about the impact of AI on Business Continuity and I was pleased to see as many attendees as walked in for the presentation. There is always the fear among those giving presentations at Nonstop TBC events that only family members and close friends will find a seat so it was encouraging to see numerous unfamiliar faces in the audience.”
Further, he gives a pointer to his presentation and acknowledges NTI’s support for it “…not only do I have to thank NTI for making it possible but if you missed the presentation, you can find it as a pdf on the NTI web site under the tab Resources:
