Be Bold! Go for it!

By Keith Moore
Distinguished Technologist at HPE

The holiday season after U.S. Thanksgiving for me at Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a unique time where I personally get a few weeks to reflect on the past year and begin the process of prioritizing projects, goals, and to chat with partners and customers about their future plans.  In addition to this, the HPE Discover event is held this week in Barcelona. I believe this is the first time Juniper Networks will be formally part of the HPE portfolio.

We, in Nonstop, are always looking at opportunities to leverage HPE technical capabilities, including this new, industry-leading technology.  As you likely know, HPE employees are already living in 2026. Our collective heads start the year of 2026 on November 1.  We are well into 2026 with our budgets and planning well underway for the calendar year ahead.

As I look back, the Frigg project with members of my team has been one of the best and most fruitful of my career.  Our small team accomplished something quite useful for our own continuing needs and at the same time demonstrated the openness of the Nonstop platform to enterprise observability tools. Beyond that, I was thrilled to be part of Canadian Nonstop Users Group and the Nonstop Technology Business Conference in Houston in September.  I expect to attend these and more in 2026.

These events are a great way to meet customers and partners so that I can help bridge the needs of our customers to solutions in the nearer term.  Without these events, and without the opportunity you all offer to me to listen and learn, I would not be able to have guidance for the coming year.

In 2025 the delivery of a converged servers for the first time in years, and with aggressive plans to deliver a new generation again quickly our customers and partners should see more flexible usage options for Nonstop going forward.

This brings me back to the future. We at HPE are about BOLD changes. BOLD goals. BOLD expectations. With our new Nonstop CTO (Franz Koenig) in place, we have started on a mission to deliver BOLD customer-focused products and support.  I have always been about picking stretch goals and projects for the coming year. In other words, let’s all go for it!

This year, there are more options than ever for our team. We will extend the work we did on Frigg beyond just a demonstration of “what could be” into an example of “what is available” while always allowing the customer to choose what is best for observability.

Beyond this, we are looking new approaches for software development, digital resilience, networking, security, open source, AI, and beyond.  I encourage everyone to have a safe and happy holiday season followed by an offer to have all of you influence my plans for a “BOLD” new 2026.
