TCM participates; service offerings to grow in 2025
TCM

Recent events have helped illustrate how the world is changing and not just following a smooth trajectory but rather pursuing a journey unfathomable just a short time ago. By this, we can reference fires in California, snow and massive hurricanes in Florida, excessive heat across Australia and the UK suffering yet another storm, the fifth so far this winter. There has been a planet alignment too that we will not see again until 2040.
Discussing the weather has been done by humanity since the earliest times. Biblical famines have been well documented as have floods. However, these are modern times, where being prepared would seem routine and yet, such unfathomable events happen and catch us off guard more often than we care to acknowledge. Stepping back from the natural order, it’s hard not to compare such events with what is unfolding in technology.
Hybrid IT is now well established, as is the acceptance of cloud services offerings. The looming presence of AI is only just beginning to make its presence felt. Open-source has been widely embraced even as there has been a proliferation of solutions based on open-source inclusions. For the HPE NonStop community, these are the challenging times, as achieving “almost as good as NonStop” seems to be a common observation coming from many vendors in the enterprise marketplace.
Differentiating NonStop by its attributes of availability, scalability and data integrity / security seem to herald back to former times. For TCM, as we have observed the evolution of NonStop systems and solutions through the years, we have become increasingly involved in safeguarding the ongoing presence of NonStop. “Such involvement is a natural outcome of where we stand historically,” said TCM’s Andy Vasey. “and TCM has been gearing up to address more proactively the need to provide consultation on the real value proposition of NonStop.”
The value proposition of NonStop continues and it is proving difficult to discount. Being almost as good as NonStop doesn’t come close to being NonStop and the many “glitches and technical faults” that routinely appear in the news are a reminder of why NonStop remains as relevant today as it was at any time in the past. The value proposition comes as a result of NonStop delivering on its attributes right out of the box, with no need for layering complex infrastructure software to make it all work.
The year 2024 was a time to celebrate as NonStop turned fifty. It was a time of nostalgia as we looked at each other and related anecdotes anchored in decades of NonStop community networking. 2025 looks to be a year of transformation, with the arrival this summer of new hardware, new software and operational options and with the potential to see the emergence of new solution offerings for targeted industry verticals apart from an established finance and an embryonic manufacturing sector.
In our previous article to NonStop Insider we wrote of how nostalgia for the past fifty years of Tandem Computers is all well and good. Watching the continued modernization of NonStop galvanizing the community in support of what TCM views as the major outcome of external events, such as the transformational effect of delivering Anything (and likely, Everything) as-a-Service (Xaas).
“Watching as skillsets diminish and with it, the subsequent lack of skills within the NonStop community have reached a point where it cannot be ignored,” said TCM’s Andy Vasey. “Employees retiring, high salaries, a continuing belief that NonStop modern credentials are questionable, all contribute to reasons why NonStop customers are thinking about other platforms.”
At TCM we see that the attributes of NonStop contribute to its legendary status. With this in mind, we are stepping up our presence in NonStop community events worldwide. TCM knows that challenges lie ahead and the onus is on us to bring to market the services that best enhance the capabilities, indeed longevity of NonStop within an enterprise. Attending NonStop community events allows us the opportunity to talk firsthand to NonStop customers and these opportunities are what continue to shape the services TCM provides.
There maybe events further away from Scotland than Australia and our own Collin Yates who is from New Zealand may contest this observation but for Collin and TCM’s Managing Director, Daniel Craig, the opportunity to participate in this year’s OzTUG held in the two major capitals, Sydney and Melbourne, represented an opportunity to expand the presence of TCM in the all-important market of AsiaPac / Japan.
“With a presence already established in the Middle East where support come from our EMEA team, together with some experience gained already in Australia,” said Daniel Craig, “looking at this region represents an opportunity to grow our business while bring to these NonStop customers more awareness of just how modern NonStop systems have become. It is a likely fertile market for further deployments of our TCM InSight tool that already has attracted converts in EMEA.”
Australia and indeed AP/J may be a distant marketplace but closer to home, TCM will be a major participant supporting E-BITUG in Dublin this June and NonStop Business and Technology Conference (formerly, the NonStop TBC Conference) in Houston this September. The TCM team is looking forward to both events where you will hear more from us about further actions taken towards increasing the drive to modernization that we see as being such an important consideration for the NonStop base.
The NonStop journey continues. It has been a witness to many trajectory changes. Legends may live on but they also need constant care and for the NonStop customer, this is where TCM provides the much-needed value as it opens access to an inventory of skillsets so keenly sought by the NonStop community.
With this in mind and your own journey providing its fair share of challenges, TCM is at hand across the globe. Look for us at an event near you, whether a local or regional occurrence. And yes, consider this today as your personal invite to come see us in Dublin and Houston this year. TCM looks forward to addressing any service requirements you may have in this transformational year of 2025.
