What’s Next for Nonstop? NuWave Looks Ahead to TBC 2026
There’s always a certain energy around TBC.
It’s the chance to catch up with people we may only see once or twice a year, hear what other Nonstop customers are working on, talk about what’s changing in the industry, and – perhaps most importantly – have the kind of conversations that don’t always happen over email or on a zoom call.
This year, TBC feels a little different for us at NuWave.
We’re heading to Orlando at a time when a lot is changing – not just in the technology landscape, but at NuWave as well.
Following our recent acquisition, we’ve entered a new phase for the company. There’s a lot of new energy, and a bigger vision for where we can take the technologies we’ve been building around HPE Nonstop.
And TBC is going to be a great opportunity for us to share some of that with the Nonstop community.
So, What’s New at NuWave?
If you’ve known NuWave for a while, you probably know us primarily for integration.
Our LightWave platform has helped organizations connect HPE Nonstop with modern applications, APIs, databases, and other systems. That work isn’t going away. In fact, we’re investing more into it.
But we’re also looking at the bigger picture.
Nonstop systems aren’t operating in isolation anymore. They’re increasingly part of larger technology environments that include APIs, cloud services, automation, AI, and a growing number of connected applications and services.
That creates some interesting opportunities.
How do you bring modern capabilities into an environment that has been running mission – critical business processes reliably for years?
How do you make valuable Nonstop data available to newer applications without having to rethink everything underneath it?
And how do you introduce things like AI and automation while maintaining the reliability and security that Nonstop customers expect?
Those are some of the conversations we’ve been having at NuWave.
And they’re conversations we’re looking forward to continuing at TBC.
The 47 – Day Certificate Challenge Is Getting Real
One of the things we’ll be talking about is something that might not sound particularly exciting at first – but is going to become a very real operational issue for many organizations: TLS certificates.
The days of getting a certificate and forgetting about it for nearly a year are coming to an end.
The industry is moving toward much shorter certificate lifecycles, eventually reaching just 47 days by 2029. The first major step is already happening in 2026, with certificate validity moving to 200 days, followed by 100 days in 2027.
For organizations managing certificates manually, that is a significant change.
Think about everything involved today: generating a CSR, getting approvals, obtaining the certificate, installing it, verifying everything is working – and then doing it all again.
Now imagine doing that every few weeks across a growing number of systems and certificates.
That’s where automation becomes less of a “nice to have” and more of a necessity.
Introducing NuWave ActivCERTTM
As part of our work in this area, NuWave is developing NuWave ActivCERTTM, a certificate lifecycle automation solution designed specifically with HPE Nonstop environments in mind.
NuWave ActivCERTTM is built to work with enterprise ACME – enabled Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) platforms and help bring certificate issuance, renewal, deployment, and verification into a more automated process.
The goal isn’t to introduce another CLM platform.
It’s to help connect Nonstop environments to the CLM and automation capabilities organizations are already using.
And because Nonstop isn’t just another server environment, that requires an approach that understands the platform’s architecture, availability requirements, and operational realities.
We, at NuWave are looking at the bigger picture: certificate management on Nonstop should be able to keep up with the rest of the enterprise.

We’ll have more to share about NuWave ActivCERTTM at TBC 2026.
AI Is Part of the Conversation, Too
Of course, you can’t talk about what’s next in enterprise technology without talking about AI.
But we think the most interesting AI conversations for the Nonstop community aren’t necessarily about replacing existing systems.
They’re about connecting them.
For organizations that have spent decades building reliable, mission – critical applications on Nonstop, the question isn’t necessarily, “How do we get rid of what we have?”
It’s more likely to be:
“How do we make what we already have work with what’s coming next?”
That could mean making Nonstop data available to AI – powered applications. It could mean using AI to support business processes that already depend on Nonstop transactions. Or it could simply mean finding smarter ways to connect the systems and information organizations already have.
We believe there is a lot of potential there.
For NuWave, the goal is not to chase every new technology simply because it is new. It’s to find practical ways to bring modern technology into the environments where reliability, availability, and trust matter most.
Looking Forward to TBC 2026
There’s a lot happening at NuWave right now. We’re growing, and expanding our vision around integration, automation, security, and AI – but our commitment to HPE Nonstop remains at the heart of what we do. That’s what makes us especially excited about TBC this year. We’re not just coming to Orlando to talk about what we’ve built; we want to hear what the Nonstop community is working on, what challenges you’re facing, and where you see the platform going next. From modernization and APIs to security, shorter certificate lifecycles, and AI, these conversations help shape where we go next. If you’ll be in Orlando September 15–17, we’d love to connect, exchange ideas, and talk about what’s next for Nonstop.
We’ll see you at TBC!
