Editorial February 2026

Here goes, February 2026 issue 10.1 of the NonStop Insider!

I hope you will enjoy the first issue of 2026 for this publication – the world is rapidly changing around us, maybe it will help to understand it all when we get deeper into March 2026 submissions.

The most talked about, worked on and appreciated of the new things in our world is the role of Generative AI and Agentic AI. I thought it would be best to group the articles that are discussing AI together, so as you read them you will appreciate just how much work, enthusiasm and hope went into this topic!

Let’s start with AI isn’t artificial, nor intelligent, but it is everywhere! by Keith Moore, Distinguished Technologist at HPE. You need to read this article, but let me quote a few sentences that talk to me:

“AI is everywhere in marketing materials, branding, hucksters, and yes, even some actual, real amazing technical and societal breakthroughs. One can immediately compare this to the Web 2.0/3.0, the blockchain craze, and before that the ‘dot.com era’ enthusiasm. To be sure, the over-selling of the LLM as a panacea is finally starting to wane.”

And then:

“We just cannot completely guess exactly how it will impact the technological landscape, nor the societal one. Many pundits tell us that they know, but they do not. This is a fast, seismic shift, but it is still important to stay as close to the emerging and eventual settling of capabilities into our collective laps.”

NTI’s article A new year; a revised playbook! discusses AI and also the value of partnerships for the Nonstop vendors: “Looking at the requirements that have emerged of late including the acceleration of interest in all things related to AI, NTI moved quickly to provide enhancements to DRNet® to provide a better data streaming platform. The partnership with Infrasoft that led to the release of DRNet®/Kafka, proved immediately successful. Most recently, Infrasoft released uLinga Nexus the first and only MCP on Nonstop.

uLinga Nexus provided and supported by NTI, has joined NTI’s product portfolio. It is a monumental development allowing AI implementations to access Nonstop data.”

Please read the article, it contains visual explanation of how this all works, but here is another quote that my get you hooked J: “What Nexus adds to the NTI playbook is support for Model Context Protocol (MCP), whereby Nexus acts as an MCP server, running entirely on Nonstop systems. It translates between MCP requests from AI clients and the protocols and interfaces already used on Nonstop. This is not the same old story for NTI but rather, Nexus is a key differentiator for NTI as it is not just new but it’s the delivery of true modernization for Nonstop.”

So let us look at the article from Infrasoft, Bridging Decades: Practical AI Integration with HPE Nonstop Systems by Andrew Price, Director of Business Operations, Infrasoft. “This article describes a practical example of how AI tooling can be integrated with Nonstop systems, not as a replacement for existing applications, but as an additional way to access and analyze information already held on the platform.”

As in the NTI article you will find a graphical explanation and the article ends with:

“By providing a controlled bridge between AI tools and Nonstop systems, organizations can make long-lived data more accessible without compromising reliability or stability. The platform remains unchanged, but its information becomes easier to explore and understand.

uLinga Nexus brings practical AI capabilities to Nonstop systems, while allowing them to continue operating exactly as designed.”

Good read!

In the Pyalla Technologies, LLC., Richard Buckle asks a question in the article’s title: It’s a New Year. Now what will it be that will excite the Nonstop community?

Read for yourself, just one quote here: “In 2025 we witnessed a number of Nonstop customers turning to Nonstop vendors for solutions and clearly, the work done by Infrasoft with the bidirectional support for Kafka (a foundation for many vendors looking to deliver data streaming platforms), sends a clear message that there is no hinderance in establishing Hybrid IT even when it is in support of AI.”

From TIC software comes an article Beyond the Hype: A Practical Guide to GenAI Success for Nonstop.

Read the article – here are couple of Quotes to wet your appetite: “Recent research reveals a troubling pattern. An MIT Media Lab study found that 95% of organizations see no measurable return on their GenAI investments. McKinsey reports that while 78% of companies are using GenAI, just as many report no significant bottom-line impact … This pattern is remarkably similar to the early days of the Internet. In the mid-1990s, skeptics questioned whether the Internet … Many dismissed the Internet as overhyped. But the companies that succeeded—the early adopters—didn’t chase technology for its own sake. They identified specific, high-value use cases. They measured results. They started small, proved value, and scaled incrementally. They figured out the right approach and reaped substantial benefits while others watched from the sidelines.” TIC Software then talks about its product, TIC Navigator – read the article to find more about this product.

There are several articles that address features and futures of the HPE Nonstop vendors’ products and offering. There are quite a few new product’s enhancements, some new products and some offerings that aim at helping customers analyze their systems’ configurations and vulnerabilities.

From TCM comes an article TCM: When standing still is not an option for Nonstop customers. Read the article – it addresses important issues faced by HPE Nonstop customers. TCM writes about a new development in its shop, “Availability, as the sole attribute, perhaps overlooks an equally important consideration, that being, the acquisition and deployment cost. Increasingly, TCM’s customers are looking for opportunities to run virtually, where virtual Nonstop (vNS) is attracting adherents. However, the costs associated with virtual machine deployment have of late climbed when vNS is deployed on VMWare. In pursuit of a more cost-effective move to virtualization, TCM has invested in alternative open-source options and became the first Nonstop vendor to deploy vNS on a KVM derivative – open-source Proxmox. If you have accessed ITUGLIB of late, you might like to know it now runs on vNS supported by Proxmox.

Please do read the article as these are just little samples of what TCM is writing about. Here is one I liked: “… TCM team brings to bear years of experience in what works best given the circumstances likely to be encountered. Call it situational awareness. Call it proactive oversight. However, you want to think about the software you need and the procedural steps that this will mandate, TCM can provide the guidance you need.”

From NuWave Technologies comes an article NuWave Technologies Announces New LightWave Releases with Enhanced Security Features. Please read the article, here is a bite: The LightWave Client and Server releases introduce two significant new security features –Authorization Exits and Password Policy – along with various bug fixes and stability improvements. Full documentation for these features is now available online.”

CSP’s article, Fundamental Strategies for Vulnerability & Risk Management on Nonstop Systems is of course security centered – do read it! “Vulnerability Scanning is an integral part of a holistic approach to Vulnerability Management. It is defined as the practice of identifying security weaknesses in systems, networks, and applications. Organizations can proactively address vulnerabilities by conducting regular scans, which reduce the risk of cyberattacks and data breaches”

Here is help from CSP: “CSP Vulnerability Scanner is a vulnerability scanning and reporting solution for HPE NonStop systems that analyzes risks and identifies vulnerabilities by checking the NonStop system’s configuration, access permissions, and security settings. It generates insightful reports for users and recommends changes to improve the security posture.”

From ETI comes an article HPE Nonstop Backup Data Protection: Immutability — The Technical Foundations and Regulatory Imperatives by Mike Mitsch, Director ETI-NET. In the early part of this article Mike offers a summary of what you will read about – here is apiece that I found particularly helpful: “This article explores the technical foundations of immutable data storage, the regulatory imperatives driving its adoption, and practical strategies for integrating immutability into HPE Nonstop environments. It concludes by examining how ETI-NET’s BackBox and QoreStor deliver next-generation immutability without disrupting mission-critical operations.”

The title of the Gravic’s article, Shadowbase Software Enables Cloud Architectures
& We Look Forward to eGTUG
tells you about the article content. You need to read the article, but here is a teaser: “Shadowbase version 6.820 unlocks new capabilities for organizations leveraging cloud and hybrid environments through array-based replication.  Array-based replication reduces network overhead, accelerates data delivery, and ensures timely availability of transactional information, allowing enterprises to replicate and stream more data, quicker, while minimizing the impact on source systems.”

The LUSIS Payments article, Why Banks Are Choosing TANGO in 2026, by Jackson Sunahara, Senior Business Manager, Development states: “Banks choose TANGO because it delivers modernization without compromise. If you’re exploring ways to simplify your payments architecture, improve scalability, or prepare for what’s next, we’d love to connect”. When you open the article, you will see LUSIS’s description of the advantages of its payments’ implementation.

The New to Nonstop Committee’s article New to Nonstop: Kickstarting 2026, talks about Rotary Sessions and Mentorship Program – read about both, but here is my pick for this Editorial: “As a mentor, you can help shape new professionals and highlight why and how Nonstop can be a long-term, high-impact career. As a mentee, you can build your confidence, your connections and your career path. We’ve been running a successful pilot scheme and are now in the process of matching mentors and mentees.”

In the article 2026 RUG Program is filled with opportunities for Nonstop community members to share experiences you will find information on why to attend RUG events and what are the benefits of attending, I liked how the article starts: “No matter how you go about picking the location for your next attendance at a Connect supported Regional User Group (RUG) event, whether it’s throwing a dart at a wall map or simply sticking a pin in a globe, you will more than likely find yourself looking at a location where the Nonstop community plans to gather. The only question is whether you plan on adding this to your 2026 calendar?”

Finally, by Richard Buckle, CoFounder and Chief Storyteller, Pyalla Technologies, LLC., Influencing – think outside the box! You will read about the Connect’s program and in general about the value of influencers. So, what constitutes influencing? Richard says: “Today, influencing can take many forms including posting to bogs, writing a column, submitting articles to relevant publications, working on your podcasting skills, attending events and participating in groups, and in general, play an active role across as many social media channels as you deem appropriate.”
