All the anticipation and preparations and… it’s upon us!
Just about everyone writes about this event in this May 2019 issue of the NonStop Insider. CSP provided an additional tidbit of information that may be of interest: “ETBC also features a golf tournament on Monday, May 13th, at the historic Gullane Golf Course. Gullane is an ancient and famous golf course, which recently hosted the European Tour for the 2018 Scottish Open. It is a perfect example of what makes Scotland ‘the home of golf’.”
The social Media Round Up is dedicated entirely to the HPE’s “new digs” in San Jose, CA. While announcing the new headquarters and tweeting about it, Antonio Neri made several statements about making sure the culture of the HPE supports creativity and innovation and announced several new employees’ benefits. As the Social Media Round up summarized it “Not bad – well at least by American standards and I am sure to become better educated about how the rest of the world operates when I show up for ETBC, hosted by BITUG.”
It made me a tad nostalgic, thinking about the ETBC, the long vacations everyone in Europe enjoys and the way every topic is a perfectly fine object of discussion. I just spent an evening on kids patrol sharing the duty with their Polish grandfather – the conversation went from assessing our 6 years old granddaughter readiness for C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia to quantum physics and a possibility that we exist in someone’s sick simulation program – do not ask – but if there are multiple simulation programs they would require enormous amounts of memory…So I brought up The Machine. Again, do not ask, but as controversial as the discussion was nobody pulled a gun or raised his voice. I miss that part. Ahh – Poland in the old days.
But talk of Poland and Europe has only further hastened my anticipation for ETBC, hosted by BITUG. Of course there will networking with plenty of opportunity to talk to HPE and the rest of the NonStop community. But for now, perhaps there will be whisky sometime soon – see you in Scotland! I understand that adult beverages will be served, let’s talk! About anything and everything.
