I think the virtual NonStop Technical Boot Camp 2020 was on most everyone’s mind this last quarter. Now that it is behind us – what have we learnt from this experience? Did we think it was worth the time and effort?
The HPE RUGs article by Richard Buckle of Pyalla Technologies first appeared in the November – December 2020 edition of The Connection magazine and is republished here with permission from Connect. Read the article as it provides a summary of the annual get together for the NonStop Technical Boot Camp 2020. “The interest in NonStop events has been a major ingredient contributing to the health of the NonStop community. It goes without saying that events have pulled together a variety of viewpoints that ultimately have led to the NonStop community always wanting more – the opportunities afforded NonStop are as numerous as they are compelling. However, today nothing says NonStop better than when an event goes global and participation leads to there being a Sold Out sign literally hung on the registration web site.”
You will find even more feedback from Richard on the event in the HPE Corner article: “For HPE and all of the HPE NonStop team this year’s NonStop Technical Boot Camp – the NonStop All-Digital Experience – was the event of the year. It showcased many new programs, products and even new ways to deploy NonStop. For the first time we heard directly from a user that had successfully put into production virtualized NonStop. We also heard for the first time about dreams for the future of NonStop; in relation to NonStop participating in GreenLake, it was all about the future coming in waves.”
When it came to write an article on Pyalla’s behalf Richard pointed out to all of Pyalla’s blogs happening during the event: “Documenting as much as possible all that transpired at this event kept Margo and me occupied long into the evening. This year we decided to write a new blog post each day the week before the event began and to finish with another post just as the event wrapped up. Bookending this sequence was an earlier post in the month promoting the event with an additional post appearing just as we headed into the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This is more than you usually find published by us in any given month, but rather than scattering commentaries across multiple social media outlets, this seemed the best way to record what was expected of the event, what was covered during the event and then a reflection of what the event really meant for the NonStop community.”
CSP, ETI, Gravic, Insider Technology, IR and NTI provided their feedback on the event and summarized their participation at this event – please read as you will find pointers to these presentations and a summary of what was being conveyed.
As this is the last issue of the NonStop Insider in the 2020 you will see some articles talking about this year’s accomplishments and plans for the future: See CSP and Striim articles come to mind. Also TANDsoft is closing the year with a bang – a webinar where “CEO Jack Di Giacomo will discuss how Block file access can improve processing times more than tenfold over Record file access.” See TANDsoft article for time and date of the Webinar. Perhaps it was the opening paragraph by Lusis that summed up many of the emotions we felt this year:
“As the end of the year draws near we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our clients, partners and teammates for an extraordinary year, amidst the challenges of the global coronavirus pandemic which has affected families, businesses and communities. Our thoughts go out to anyone who has been impacted by the virus especially those who are sick, we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery.”
